At Last!!!

It’s been awhile since I last blogged. What exactly is holding me back?

Before my first semester in Drake ended, I had to attend to the siren songs of my life. Kind of corny for an excuse, but I really was struggling to keep myself afloat when those assignments and studies came crushing down on me like those lethal waves of tsunami. I swam, swam with all my might to the surface and gasped for air only to find more coming at me, which crushed me deeper into the sea. I was on the brink of giving up when the thought of getting into the President’s list was thrown to me like a huge life-saving float. I was finally, at the very least, afloat, despite having most of my energy drained. And that’s all that matters. I pushed on to sustain those grades and I’m glad to say that my efforts bore fruits, in fact, the sweetest fruits on earth I have to say. I got into the President’s list with a CGPA of 4.0. That wasn’t very hard, was it? Screw you. People get slashed along the way, bleed profusely, and were half dead when they got there. Some were long dead before they were even close enough to have a glimpse of the President’s list. It’s easier said than done.

When the semester ended, Whoosh. It’s like having tons of burden taken off your shoulders. The craziness unleashed, and all you can think of was to soar high up into that vast blue sky like a freed bird, gasping for fresh air like it were to be your last breath. At least that was how I felt. Most of my time were spent with my friends. We cooked dinner together, cramped up in a small room watching “Diary of A Sex Addict”, went shopping, gathered around a small dining table playing Dota. It was so much fun! I PPS-ed when I had nothing on my to-do list, and I was and am really into PPS. I’m watching so many movies, tons of it in fact, to compensate for those movie time my studies took up during the semester. Besides that, I drowned myself in activities and recreations. I say yes to all the activities Amy and Dan organized, activities I would talk about later on. Went to Bell Center with Ryan when he wanted to get some time off his FM preparation. I just did not want to get involved in words, as it would bring up those stressful moments I had a few weeks ago. Hence, I had to put blogging aside for a moment. Sorry I was on such a long hiatus. Bad habit for a blogger.

There goes my second reason for not blogging for such a long time. And here’s the third. Hey! I’m trying to give you reasonable and elaborated reasons instead of saying “I was busy, period”, which is so rude and short when I had you guys waited for so long! I’m being considerate here, so please bear with me. Here goes. When the time came to start blogging again, I hid and avoided. The thought of having to fill up such a huge blank in the story of my life scares me to hell. I didn’t know where to start and I didn’t want to leave my readers uninformed of those interesting days that I enjoyed so much either. It would be very unfair of me to blast your mind off with all the ramblings I had to make and not share with you even an ounce of sweetness I tasted in life. Being selfish defies the whole purpose of blogging and that’s just not what I’m going to do. So readers, you are now staring at the blog where pain and happiness are equally shared. Be loyal to it and regret you shall not.

So it’s time to put my fears and phobias behind me and embark on this adventurous journey of blogging, starting off from where I abandoned you, shall we? …

…Spring break finally came and my plans did go smoothly. Tuesday morning, Fang Kai, Chew, Ryan, and I were waiting eagerly at the GreyHound bus stop in downtown Des Moines for the very bus that will bring us to a place where all the fun begins… CHICAGO…

Of Randomness

So the US has been treating me well, but I have some catching up to do when it comes to open-mindedness.

I remember barging into the female’s lavatory when I was still little, wanting to show people that I indeed am slightly different from the norm as I attempted things in a way that the society finds it disapproving but in someway, humorous because I was just a little kid, because as what we’ve learnt through experience in our lives is that little kids can practically get away with anything that’s wrong or crime-based to a grown up/mature individual.

Before I start digressing and going into the details of my obnoxious childhood behavior, allow me to continue. So in the US, it’s a total different thing from what I did when I was of young age, girls enter the men’s lavatory instead.

I had several encounters in the men’s lavatory that involves females. I’ve seen head of girls popping out of the cubicles through the reflection of the mirror when I was brushing my teeth. I’ve seen pink high heels instead flip-flops or shoes through that 6 inches gap beneath the cubicles. I’ve been warned by a bunch of girls not to come out from the shower cubicle without a towel wrapped around my waist because it’s going to take them about 1 minute to pee. And later on, I’ve heard them calling out to somebody outside the lavatory to help them with the door because apparently, they were being locked in. Those were fun encounters.

But if those weren’t entertaining enough, I have something else to share with you guys. It was a fine Thursday night, a night where most Americans would go to the bar or clubs to get themselves drunk and all wasted because there usually won’t be any classes on Friday, when I was doing my stuff and my roommates were doing theirs although it’s way past midnight. Us Malaysians just love staying up, aren’t we?

So I was doing my stuff when suddenly the door of my dorm room slammed shut, indicating that someone just came in or went out. “Bam!” is what you’ll hear when the door shuts itself. The nosy me couldn’t help but to put a halt to what I was doing every single time that noise came beating on my eardrums, pop my head to the other side of the wall and take a peek at the door to see who was coming in or going out. It’s like every moment when that happened, I am bringing myself closer to possessing a great potential of working at front desks, registering people who’re entering or leaving any particular building.

So as usual, I took a peek and saw a big-sized black American walking into our room without giving us any prior notice that he has an intention of entering our room by knocking at our door or whatsoever. It was weird that some stranger just barged into your room for no apparent reasons, but it’s even weirder when he started taking off his pants. I have no enthusiasm in watching a guy being bottom-less, so I turned away the moment I saw his erm.. pubic hair. He was doing it slow-mo so I get the chance to turn away before I stumbled upon little Johnson.

I sat still at my chair wondering what’s happening at the other side of the wall when I heard a sound so positively correlated to a guy peeing on a carpeted floor that without looking I was hell sure what’s actually going on. It was a long pee he took. The reason for me being a bystander is that I wasn’t sure if he’s drunk or he’s sleep-walking. In either condition, it’s a bad idea to wake him up and kindly ask him to buzz off.

First, if you failed to wake a sleep-walker, he might end up peeing on you than on the carpet, in which the latter is not that bad, just that it needs a little cleaning afterwards. Having pee on you? No thank you. Second, if he’s drunk and you’re trying your best to ask him not to pee in your room, you might end up Rihanna-fied. Or what’s worse, he might gun you down because it’s the US??! That’s the last thing that could happen to you in Unis, but who knows What fate awaits you? Third, what if he’s completely conscious of his doings and that was exactly his intention? You might as well say byebye to tomorrow’s sunlight if you acted all hero when you Asian is so tiny. So I did what I do best, nothing. And waited for the rainbows to come out.

So there he left, a puddle of pee for us. How thoughtful…

The following day, today, a Friday, I walked past my RA’s room and saw this written on the whiteboard outside her room, “No peeing on this door – 403.” I guess it wasn’t only my room that fell prey to this peeing monster that roamed the floor of GK at night.

On another note, ever wonder what it takes a person to snatch the final portion of his favorite food from someone who’s waiting in the line? So I went to Hubbell Dining Hall rather late today, few minutes before it closes to be exact.

Today’s food did not leave me much choice and it did not taste good at all, so I decided to go for the pizzas. Because Hubbell was just about to close, they weren’t making any more pizzas, and just nice, I was the forth in line when there were exactly 4 pizzas left. I was behind 3 rather small sized girls and I was pretty sure they were going to have a piece each and leave the final piece for me. So grabbed a plate and waited I did.

When my turn came, this guy came walking swiftly towards my direction, grabbed hold of the final piece of pizza with his hand and walked right past me, ignoring my presence totally. How much ruder can he be? I wonder…

The girl standing in front turned towards me, as if awaiting a dramatic reaction or some sort, but once again, I shrugged it off and showed her the what-can-i-do face. You’ll get used to meeting all sorts of people in this vastly diversified society. Well, good luck to us!

Crazy Beginning

A lot had happened recently but I was a bit laid back about putting it all up in my blog. With my latest post due sometime a month ago, you could already guess the number of chill pills I have been consuming. So, I’m here to haul it all up the ocean before everything sinks deeper and fades away.

If you are someone who keeps track of my barren blog, you definitely know that I had been working part time jobs on and off throughout the previous semester break, which had earned me quite an amount of pocket money. I was coerced into putting a halt to my sudden urge of working when college reopened, which was something I actually looked forward to.

On seeing the miserable ADP timetable, I was gravely disappointed at the number of subjects offered this fall semester. However, when I gave it a slight thought, I couldn’t help but empathize HELP, as dedicated lecturers as Ms. Yap and co. had turned or are turning their backs on the institute. Leaving behind a pillar-less crumbling tower, which is not only facing a shattering end but also an imminent danger of bankruptcy, sadly to say.

4 days of waking up early and attending a full 10 hours of class each day, gave me more doubt of what not to take than a comforting assurance of what subjects to take. As an ending outcome of shopping around and choosing subjects, what I got was exhaustion instead of a decision. I sought help from Ms. Mamoorian, who is the admin of Drake University via E-mail and later found out that the only subject I could take was Accounting 2. Ridiculous ain’t it? How can someone take only one subject in a long semester? Unless that someone is as jobless as Riz.

Political Science wasn’t that bad, especially when Mr. Ho the Head of Department was the one conducting the class. A retired lawyer Mr. Ho shared many of his first-hand experience in class, which I found amusing despite the exaggeration of having to make friends with the ministers of the Malaysian government and even some former president of the United States. Frankly speaking, I was this close to registering the subject as I was pretty convinced that it would be an interesting class. I didn’t in the end after I got a reply re-confirming that it was absolutely unnecessary for me to take it even as an elective. So Accounting 2 it is.

I really couldn’t imagine me wounding up being a couch potato at the end of this semester since last semester had already made me a lot lazier than my first year in college. So I gave myself a little motivation and continued my job hunting stint! Having ample time to spare, once again I was spending time trawling through forums, searching for “lucrative” part time jobs. =)

After sending out about 10 resumes to 10 different agents, I received notifications about interviews via phone calls and sms pretty soon enough. Without further hesitation, I accepted a promoter position at the DiGi specialized store at the Tropicana City Mall outlet due to the reasonable pay and the simple job scope. Never did I know that I was being lured into a Trap of Boredom.

There was literally nothing I could do in the shop. Allow me to enlighten you. My job scope was to promote DiGi postpaid lines and that I would receive a commission of as high as RM 20 after successfully selling 4 lines in a day, the subsequent lines sold would earn me as much as RM 5 per line. Since Tropicana City Mall is a new mall and is nothing compared to any other shopping complexes in the Petaling Jaya district, the number of shoppers were pathetically low each day, even during weekends. I ended up helping DiGi users, mostly foreign workers reloading credits into their accounts.

I felt like a retarded freak who had never embraced any from of education, doing something that only required the least amount of brain work. It was so boring and a complete waste of time that when my friend invited me to a gathering the other night, I smsed and lied to my agent about a family emergency as soon as I hung up the line, ditched my supervisor who was happily playing bejeweled back at the shop, and left work an hour earlier for the gathering. God blessed the night, it was awesome.

The following morning was Fawesome when I was told that some client decided to put the store on hold temporarily, which in English means I do not have to work in that hellish place for some time. But even if I was asked to go back later on, I would reject it anyway.

So, I’m unemployed again! =)

“Sailing” Difficulties

Disclaimer: What I’m about to write is all based on personal opinions and perceptions. It may not be necessarily true and it may offend some of you. The good news is you’re free to leave a comment(s) if you agree/disagree with what’s said. But I don’t think there’ll be any feedbacks because my readers are not used to communicating with me.

I have a lot in mind to brag about right now but definitely am not in the perfect mood, plus I have no idea how to get it started.

However, one thing’s for sure and obvious – I don’t update my blog that often as compared to the previous month where I went on a blogging berserk. The urge of blogging just died down for me. Besides that, I have something of utmost importance in hand and in mind to catch up with, to get busy with, and to kill time with. So I suppose that accounts to all the slack-blogging.

Forgiveness shall be given to me I guess, but is that a necessity? Don’t think so. I have the blog-whatever-and-whenever-I-want badge, so you got it whenever I update. No bugging!

The problem with friendships nowadays is that it wouldn’t last as long as those forged during ancient times. Back then, once a friend, always a friend, even though it’s an LDF a.k.a Long Distant Friendship, which means you don’t often meet your friend. You’ll definitely agree with me if you start reversing the time machine and go back into the past right now. Of course, there might be exclusive cases in which are not of my best concern right now.

Think. How close are you now with all your best friends in pre-school, primary school, or even secondary school? You might already have lost contact with them and have not seen them in ages. Which is quite a common thing because people go separate ways eventually as they graduate and don’t intend to meet up again. Even if you stumbled on them in supermarkets or in shopping centers, there’s a great possibility that you wouldn’t recognize them.

Even if you do recognize them, a little avoidance – hiding behind pillars and covering of face with an upside-down gossip magazine would do just fine. You think it’s bad? I see people doing that often. Firstly, he/she might pop all the bubbles in your face by not being able to recognize you. Secondly, there’s nothing to talk about in that supremely awkward situation aside from all the Ws and H questions you could think of because the fact is, both of you aren’t as close as you once were.

However, you could strike secondary school out because based on my experience, high school’s where you find your Paradise of True Friendships. There’s where you find a friend(s) who you could trust, share your deepest and darkest secrets with, and hang out comfortably with although you’ve not seen them for quite some time. At least it works for me that way. People begin to mature at this stage of life, the adolescent stage. Your personality, behavior or whatsoever begin to surface and people judge you by first impressions. What about college?

Unfortunately, nothing beats friendships forged in college. Not that college friends are more awesome than high school friends, no. And not that all college friends are not awesome, I meant some. Because of past experiences, people begin to understand the importance of first impressions. Everyday, before they step into the grounds of college, they put on a decent mask as if they were about to attend a masquerade or act in a soap opera. So much of that just to gain a large network of friends. It’s not surprising that friendships last the shortest in college. You may have someone as your best buddy this semester, but only to find out that someone is ignoring your every HIs and BYEs after only a month of miscommunication. Why are true friendships hard to come by?

***

Yesterday, I went out with a buddy from high school whom I’ve not seen in a year. It was an awesome outing because we had so much catching up to do. We chatted time away. An outing would be considered incomplete without hitting the cinemas, so we decided to catch a movie.

I should be buying tickets for Transformers 2 already but since he’d watched it, we queued up for ‘State of Play’ instead and not ‘Ice Age 3’, ‘Drag me to Hell’ or whatsoever because I heard it’s a good movie and indeed it was. The intro was a tad too slow and boring I must say but as the story builds up, it makes the intro looks good because everything is interrelated and I find that very cool. But I still think it’s a risky act to bore your audience first before giving them the adrenaline rush. If it’s a must to have a self-explanatory intro, I suggest, do it like what Gavin Hood did in X-men origins.

Anyway, there we were queuing up before the counter when I stumbled upon this primary school friend of mine who was about to swift past my shoulders as he zig-zagged his way to the end of the short queue. Although I’ve lost communication with him for years, I somewhat called out for his name. Eventually, both of us reached out for each other’s hand naturally for a handshake and said our heys but his face had that blank or was it a shocked and blank look? All that happened in a split second.

You might have already noticed the contradiction made here but this one’s a different story. Because this old friend of mine is actually a friend of one of my closest friends as well and I see his pictures every now and then in her blog. So I felt like I’m still close to him even though I obviously am not anymore. Which explains why I didn’t do that little Indian dance/hide-and-seek around some coconut trees with him. I’m glad I made that move because it gave me a good laugh when he showed me that “what just happened/Hey but who are you” kinda expression.

After the movies, we had batting in mind and so we paid the Batting Cage a visit at Upper Roof. Sadly, it was drizzling and the cage was undergoing some form of construction. Bah … We crave batting! Maybe we should pay En. Zol a visit one day and ask for a fair game of softball instead. I would definitely be the pitcher again. *Missing those proud moments*

Till we meet again. =)

The Second Day

I have been sleeping in a non-air-conditioned room for days now in response to Earth Hour. I believe the sacrifices I have made so far and would be making in the future would be able to help heal the world. The truth is, my beloved air-conditioner broke down and no one’s calling the repair man. So, I was stuck to using the ceiling fan and a stand fan, which are both switched on to a fan speed of 3.

This morning, I woke up to a cloudy morning. I felt like falling back to sleep but my 8 o’clock class prevented me from doing so. Which I later grudgingly get out of bed. As I walked down the street, I smelt a scent of gloominess.

Indeed. Arriving at college, the faces I encountered weren’t of any bit chirpy. Maybe it’s the upcoming finals that’s giving everyone so much pressure. I bet all ADP students would agree with me that the course assessments are inhuman. A-levels, B-Psych students always get a week or two off before finals as their study breaks.

ADP students on the other hand, not only do not have study breaks but we are often tortured with extra assignments, quizzes and presentations right before our finals. Those “obstacles” came at the right moment that it’s as though the lecturers did that on purpose to keep us preoccupied so that there wouldn’t be any time spared for us to prepare for our finals. Which means, they want us to fail our papers.

It has been hours since I started waiting. I have always told myself that waiting is a bliss in disguise. It truly is when you think of it from a different perspective. I loitered about after my class, which ended shortly before 10. Had lunch with my sister and played cards with my friends. Tinesh even founded some interesting rule for the Big2.5 game. Awesome.

It was drizzling and I hate it when it drizzles. Those annoying little rain drops just keep falling on my head! Why don’t You just pour it all down at one go? I stared at a puddle of water and watched every single rain drop as they fell. I was waiting yet again. The rain wouldn’t stop then, as though it was trying to wash my hope and faith away. But I persevered.

1 and a half hour later, my dad finally arrived.

 CONFUSED, Sean

******

It says: “You are a sensitive individual and enjoy the closeness of a romantic relationship. Although you would prefer not to be apart, you have the sensibility and strength of will to survive a long-distance romance until the time came that you could live in the same city.” – Could You Survive A Long-Distance Love Affair?

Seriously..

..Seriously, seriously. It has been 12 hours now since I started thinking of it. And I have not figured anything out, things are still left un-sorted! I've been literally foraging everywhere for some leftover "breadcrumbs" but I found none! Actually I did found some, but it's so minute in size that I doubted it's related to what I'm searching for.

This morning, I woke up feeling groggy. Maybe it's because of the stress that was flung onto me the night before. When I was preparing for college, those issues couldn't stop bothering me. While all that was happening, I was trying to get my emotions right because I think they are rather irrelevant and out of place.

Suddenly, all that excitement I have been feeling lately, faded, just like pink mist - One shot in the head and you got it all. A few minutes passed. Staring into the screen, I contemplate my fate, or maybe I am trying to, as I solidify my thoughts. By now, I should be hiding at one corner of this room and start weeping? Or should I be grimacing as I walk around college?

Ironically, I did none of it. It's normal that people don't usually project their inner thoughts/emotions on their faces, but I usually do, somehow. So it's rather abnormal for me to not show it today, but at least I'm putting up some hints, which I should not be doing? Weird.

If I were to continue with this unnecessary ranting, I might stand a chance to bore you to death. Or baffle you into billion bits and pieces. Then I would be charged under whatever section that is for committing crimes I did not actually commit. So, I think I shall put a halt to this now before things get any worse.

Cheers! =)

Joke Of The Day!

I’m supposed to be updating my blog with dozens of entries, but I’m too preoccupied editing my blogskin. Did I tell you that it’s HARD to find nice blogger templates? You’ll end up spending God-knows-how-many-hours, searching and browsing for a suitable one. Changed it, get bad comments about it, and here we go again. The cycle goes on and on and on, and you’ll never get satisfied with it. Slowly, it turns into obsession. You’ll be stuck right before your computer, having a great desire in mind to find a cool skin for your blog to impress others.

I changed my blogskin a multiple times since finals and I finally got myself settled on one. I wonder how long will this blogskin last. Hope it’ll be forever but that would be impossible. Who cares, many loves it now. Do you guys remember the JEANs template? Well, I get comments from different people with different perspectives and mindsets.

Here are the feedbacks I got regarding the previous JEANS blogskin I used:

  1. OMG! Your skin is awesome!
  2. I love this skin better than your other skin *The skin I’m using now*
  3. I like brighter skin and I don’t really like this.
  4. Not nice lar the design for your blog … Jeans wtf? *Edwin*

These totally contrasting feedbacks had put me on the horns of a dilemma, forcing me to burn up all the leftover midnight oils from finals in order to search for a better looking skin. I don’t even remember how many times have I typed in the blog list every single time I change my blogskin. What a tiring and exhausting process. Anyway, I’m quite satisfied with my blog right now, seeing that so many people had left good comments about it. (= Thank you very much. Joel Comm Okay, I was digressing all the way since the start of the entry. Shall return to main purpose of this entry. What’s the joke of the day? =)

*********************************************************************************************************************************

There was a bunch of college students sitting in a circle, chatting and gossiping about their life, studies, and whatever topic they could think of. After sharing their romantic love life among themselves, they started talking about education. Which university would be their primary choice, when will they transfer, and how will they cope with the local environment abroad.

Then one of them asks, “Do you know why all students who are planning to transfer and whom already transferred to UK and abroad are all majoring in Law?” Distinct and weird replies followed as rejoinders to the questions. None of them got it right. Out of frustration, everyone impatiently asked for the right answer.

“Well, the answer is simple,” the person who questioned the crowd spoke. “Think of it in a Malaysian context!” he continued. Everyone began to dig their hands into their hair and started scratching it vigorously. *Thinking deeply* Again, none could get the accurate answer into place.

Now, It’s time for the person who provoked the question to get ants in his ass. Can’t wait no longer, he blurted out, “What would be the reply if you were in UK and you asked a Malaysian about their purpose being there?” Their answer would be simple, “STUDY LOR!” Lor and Law are homophones! =)

Lame, but that’s the way a joke should be.

*********************************************************************************************************************************

Speaking of accents and slangs, I found this joke on the one of the shirts sold in Central Market. The former US president George Bush was having a small chat with China president Mao Zedong. As the chat went further, both presidents started talking about the politics of their respective country. George Bush, out of curiosity, asked president Mao, “When do your country hold the general election?” Without the least hesitation, president Mao replied, “Every morning!” *He thought Bush was asking about his erection* =.=

Lost Track of Time

I wonder what got into me this semester. Tapeworms?

I did so well in all my course assessments but yet, I never fail to screw up everything during the finals. This is the very first time I found myself in the midst of giving up on my studies. Every time I open up the book, I felt like flipping it through, trying to take in as much information as possible with just a glance, and close it back.

I remember the times when I was so highly-spirited that I lit up the oil lamp and stayed up until 4 just to finish up everything. Now, I realized I was as lazy as a ship in the doldrums. I couldn’t concentrate on my studies, got distracted by MSN chatting half-way through and blogging. Have I lost interest in my studies? I never stop wondering. Tropical

While I was reading Biology the other day, before I could even cover half the 1st chapter, my mind strolled off. I turned to the computer and clicked on videos, and watched how Michael Jackson dances. And damn, he’s good at dancing! I didn’t know that he’s that good until that day.  Animals

After wasting so much time on Michael Jackson, I wasn’t contented. Clicked on “related videos” and I found something real INCREDIBLE that popped my eyes. This robot dancer from “So You Think You Can Dance,” whom I didn’t know about his presence, danced like an alien. How I wish I could dance like him. Did I already say he’s awesome?

So it was 3 in the morning already and I haven’t even cover half of what I should study. Instead of switching off the laptop and get my ass started, I decided to hit the sack. Reminiscing about it, I couldn’t help but wonder again, “was that really me?” Never mind. What was indeed me was that I decided to wake up early the next morning so that I could catch up what I’d missed the previous night. ]

Alarm rang the next morning. Miraculously, I woke up, but only to stop the alarm and shoved myself back under the warm blanket. Alas, I woke up “officially” at 10 and I was panicking and struggling throughout the morning. Lunch time arrived and I wasn’t hungry although I hadn’t eaten my breakfast.

Then it was 4. I sat down in the exam hall. What laid in front of me was a piece of question paper, which I later found out that I couldn’t answer most of them with certainty. Instantaneously, I felt disappointed with myself. If there lays a knife along with the paper, I would stab myself a thousand times with it.

Swiftly, 2 hours passed before me. I handed in the paper but there wasn’t any sense of freedom that I could feel. So, this day is just like other ordinary days for me, not a day to feel extremely exhilarated about.   Blogging

Since it’s after finals and I have 3 weeks of holiday, I shall get back to the blogging business once again. Please bear with me because I have loads of overdue posts piling real high up. So, don’t be surprise if you see more than 2 entries per day.

BBOY Attempt!

Before I bombard my blog with a chunk of arid facts of my life, I would like to say that my presentation this morning was spontaneous and satisfactory. In fact, this day was a wonderful day for me where all things went on smoothly, although I was extremely exhausted because I failed to find time to put myself into the sacks last night. Felt relaxed and free!

Celebration!

I’m glad that I manage to cope with the workloads of World Religion without an exaggerating amount of conflicts. As a matter of fact, I did quite well in some of the work.

So here’s the thing. I got over this hectic week which nearly got me killed. Malaysian Studies individual assignment due on Wednesday along with Malaysian Studies quiz, which was held on the same day! Isn’t it obvious that no time would be dedicated to studying but to the assignment instead?

Maybe it’s not conspicuous enough. How about this. World religion individual assignment A.K.A research paper and presentation due on Friday, which was two days after the Malaysian Studies assignment due date and quiz. What a wonderful arrangement by all lecturers of ADP.

“You Lecturers Deserve A Standing Ovation!” says Sean.

That’s not even near death. “What’s the CATALYST?” Let’s add a Calculus III Quiz on Friday along with the RE101 assignment and presentation.

How about that? “Would that be enough to KILL an Elephant within seconds?” Absolutely. dead elephant

Thank God Ms. Rani was so considerate that she grants me privilege to take the quiz on Monday instead. Or else I’ll be half-dead/zombie-ing during the quiz. ZombieOr maybe worse..

Lack of sleep ---> Dizziness.

Lack of study---> Panic ---> Dizziness

----> Summing  up to double dizziness or faint.

Okay, this would not be another dissertation. So I’ll be cutting it short. I know most of you light up the oil lamp for assignments, even Qing Han did not sleep at all. What an interesting fact to discover indeed! I see friends from Anthropology or World Religion class rushing with their assignments this morning, as in the morning right after midnight. It’s just so Amazing that I was able to chat with some of them at 5 in the morning!

However, there are good students among us:

  1. Joshil
  2. Hern Ee

who handed in the assignments a day earlier *cough cough*

Bad bad! Moustache started “sprouting” out and pimples spreading across my cheek. Dang! When would this even end? We craved for sleep when finals are nearing. We despise sleeping after finals because our nightlife would be booked fully with “events.” What an ass, you might think!sleeping20baby GET MORE SLEEP IF POSSIBLE! It’s easier said than done. Good Luck in the Finals!

Procrastinator + TOEFL!

With 1 draft in my writer and another draft awaiting to be publicize at my blogger profile, I’m dying to get the entries completed and posted on my blogosphere. Of course, the pilling workloads don’t allow me to do so.

I came back from my TOEFL test 2 hours ago and I’m relieved that it’s finally over. I strived hard and prepared for it for about 4 days in a hope to attain a passing grade.

I was worrying sick about the speaking section as the time allowed to prepare and to speak is so restricted. However, it turned out to be good. The reading section was okay and since I’m a slow reader, I think that the time is insufficient as well.

As for the listening section, it’s not what I expected it to be. I have been practicing it for days now and I thought that there’s only 5 lectures to listen to and 34 questions to answer for in that section. I was jolted greatly when 3 more video clips and 17 more questions appear before me. In total, there’s 9 video clips and 51 questions for the listening section! The questions almost suffocated me. I was so relaxed when the mandatory break came.

I was struggling to go to bed early last night but I just couldn’t kill my habit. I finally got myself to bed at 11.30. Luckily, I don’t feel sluggish this morning and after having a bottle of essence of chicken, I was close to my optimum. Thank God and Praise God that I didn’t have a stomach ache or what sort to distract me from doing my test.

Glad that it’s over. Now, I shall concentrate on my assignments and journals.

Condom Boxes!

This morning I did go for Mr. Deva boring and uninformative tutorial class after much contemplations had been done the previous night. And that was a wise decision I made because he finished marking our 2nd quiz and he gave it back today! The grades shall not be disclosed though. (:

I was glad that the class ended half an hour early and I decided not to stop by at KPDE because all my friends are going to have a miserable day today – Calculus I quiz. They must be working their asses off, revising and trying to solve the tough Mathematical equations. So, I didn’t want to bother them.

Went straight to the bus stop across the road right next to Subway for the U82 bus. And before I even had the time to walk out of KPD, I saw that gigantic bus colored with red, blue and white paint slowly came to a halt through the fencing. Great.

Guess what I did. I turned back and headed for the next bus stop which is situated right in front of Ali Maju Restaurant at Main Block. Now, that’s far and I’m wearing a pair of flip-flops. Cool? I managed to catch the bus though. ;)

Okay, that’s not the point. Again, I alighted at Damansara Utama, which is so super near to Chloe’s house. I told her a multiple times that she could take the bus back home but with a price – She has to walk a short distance to her house. She just rejected my “brilliant” idea with 2 reasons.

  1. I don’t want to walk home!
  2. It’s so dangerous walking alone! *Hello? I can walk you home right? Are you doubting my ‘man-ness’? LOL.*

That was so not the point again. I crossed the blustering morning roads of Thursday through the rigidly-built sky bridge and entered a housing area, where I found the dead rat. Remember?

The StreetSo while I was walking down the empty, I mean quite empty street, I was literally searching for that poor little huge rat. Eyeing everywhere hoping to find it, but my effort was in vain. The carcass just disappeared. How sad can that be. If it were to be there, I can make it like Kee’s world comics or something. (Then… Now…)

19032009334Anyway, not my point again. So I walked for around 500 meters and I reached the “small” highway beside my housing area. And Finally I come to my point! I saw this Durex condom box beside of the road! I was like =.= Litter is quite common in Malaysia if you don’t know. But, you don’t litter such personal stuff like that. It’s almost similar to littering your pads or pampers, which I believe you people have seen it before. 19032009335

Come on man. But if the reason for littering that is because the guy couldn’t wait for home and just stopped by somewhere and do it and he wants no evidence left at all, then that might, MIGHT be okay.

So, that’s my whole point! Save the environment! Don’t litter for others’ sake. (:

Maximum Anxiety

lightningRumblings of the thunder put a halt to my short nap. Before it all came, I was already struggling to repose and put myself into a deep sleep before I lit the oil lamp that night.

Great! With all the religion facts pestering my thoughts and the annoying noises from above, I tossed and turned, trying my very best to shut them off for just a second but failed. Irritated, I woke up. Stopped the alarm, which was set for an hour later, and rushed downstairs.

I was a little panicky when I got the book opened. Tried my very best to gobble down every information that came into sight as fast as possible but unfortunately, I am not a speed reader. It all ended with me ultimately finishing at around 4 in the morning.

Fortunately enough, the quiz this morning wasn’t that difficult and I managed to answer all questions although with much doubts.

Struggling Without O2

I know grumbling about the ups and downs in life are useless. Actions had to be done to move on and to overcome the conflicts in life. I just can’t seem to be able to focus on my studies right now.

Every Friday, I arrived home at around 6 in the evening, exhausted. Thinking that it’s the starting of a wonderful weekend, I just couldn’t resist the temptations of watching movies.

There’ll be a public holiday coming up in 2 days time. And I won’t be around by then, which means that Journals have to be left undone, Quizzes have to be discarded into the dark corner of my mind, Assignments have to be prevented from thawing. Basically, the word “slack” can describe it all.

So, please don’t think that I’m some kind of geek or freak who studies 24/7 after college. Don’t insult me like that. I have my own interesting life to live with and I detest studying like most students do. But, if you change the “study” to “online,” then it would be more appropriate. I would be more than happy if you say that because I am who I am, and I’m very proud of it.

HeadsetAnyway, I got myself a new headphone + microphone. The gadget looks cool! Love it much!

005907

Okay, I rarely camwhore, but just to show you how it looks like when I wear it. Reminds me of “Slumdog Millionaire,” the movie that tempts Kenneth to pee in his pants. “Hello, this is Sean from XXX Call Center!” Lame.

And I was in my dining room, in case you are curious. (:

Bedtime has arrived! I have Malaysian Studies replacement class tomorrow morning at 8. It’s rather ironic that I can’t wait for the class! (: The class is just so interesting!

My Watch

A brand new watch and a perfectly new hair cut to make my day, only to be brought down once again by one simple thought – “How am I going to accomplish that ridiculous course assessment of Ms. Yap ON TIME?”

I’m stuck with an absurdly multitude of chapters to study; 12 long journals to write on; 1 group assignment, which later on altered into an individual assignment to work on; and 3 individual presentations to prepare, which I’m left with 1 more.

Thank God!

Mind you, that’s only Intro to World Religion itself and I’m already so worn out. World Religion And this is the book that hastens doomsday. I really do have an admiration for my friends – especially J Nie for taking 4 subjects this semester. I’m taking only 3 and I’m half-dead already.

Remember the mice I bought for my Biology Project? They are well-taken care of and are growing extremely fast, although they still look adorable to me. Getting aggressive by day as they tend to bite everything that comes into contact with their mouth. Darn. Freaks me out every time when their razor sharp but harmless teeth sank into my epidermis.

That’s not the point again. The main point is that I’m going off during this coming public holiday and I couldn’t take care of my mice! See? Time’s insufficient and I’m here blogging and am going for a vacation few days later. Anyways, Sagu’s taking care of my mice and I’m glad. Thanks! =]

Jason_Mraz_-_Mr._A-ZAnd puhleese, don’t be upset if you missed this golden opportunity of meeting Jason Mraz in his concert today. He’s just another guy living on this earth, awaiting for judgment day. He’s famous because he’s gifted with a talent that the public adores. Everyone of us has our own talents, so should we not appreciate our own talents more?

And besides, I prefer listening to songs on radios and mp3s nowadays, because most of those singers out there are just bunch of useless studio singers who can’t perform on stage in any ways. Take Kate Perry for example, she sounded so pitchy and off tune when she performed at the Grammy. Shame on her. Conversely, American Idols are the bombs. Never heard of Jason Mraz performing live, so no comments on him.

I know he’s cute, and you girls will go crazy over him but what’s the point actually? Not trying to start a commotion here and I’m not being jealous. I just don’t get it. At least, I don’t go amok over Jessica Alba or Megan Fox like other guys do. And, don’t get me wrong, I’m not a homo. Not in centuries to come.

With that, I sign off as -

Busy year for Horses in the year of Ox?

safari_pinto_toy_horse_model MAYBE IT’s TRUE!

30012008425 MAYBE IT’s NOT!!

Heavy workloads have been spiraling since the second week of the semester. Couldn’t be blamed. I registered for Introduction to World Religion(RE101), perceived as one of the hardest subjects of the semester by the students of ADP. Maybe because RE101 is taught by Ms. Yap, one of the best lecturer in the ADP department.

Why World Religion? Why “immolate” myself where I have an option for an easier subject? Edwin must be laughing at my stupidity, troubling and stressing myself for making the worst decision ever. He took the “easiest” subjects that he gets TOO bored everyday for he has nothing to do. Evidence? Posting “THOUSANDS” of lame entries in his blog per day.

I was coerced into taking that subject.

    1. Qing Han is taking it, so I followed.
    2. Was planning to take Introduction to Drama at first, but attending to Dr. Shalini’s class tends to put me into sleep with her sweet lullaby.
    3. Couldn’t resist the temptation to try out one of Ms. Yap’s classes.
    4. Failure in the arrangement of the timetable by the admin, as the classes are clashing one another badly.
    5. Wanted to discover the undiscovered part of me.

There you go. Five absolute reasons and I ended up taking World Religion with a slight remorse.

Apart from that, I’m also taking calculus III, the highest level of Mathematics (currently). Seriously. 3-dimensional views came into practice in Calculus III. Remember the function graph-XY? Now it’s XYZ for me ): The complexity of it is tremendous and it’s a total abstruse subject compared to the Additional Mathematics we learnt in high school. That was a piece of cake. How I wish I could turn back the clock and be in high school once again.

So those two subjects are going to contribute to the headaches I’m going to have in the next 2 months. Wish me luck again.

HELP-ful Horses in the year of Ox?

Recently, I have been helping my friends out in many ways and I wonder why.

    1. Helping Edwin to “manage” his blog – cbox.
    2. Almost helped Jie Hwa to buy a DiGi sim card after helping him to search for nice numbers at the nearest DiGi center.
    3. Gave Edwin ideas on his Public Speaking speech.
    4. Helped Desmond to look for mice for our Biology experiment. (Not quite counted actually)
    5. Brought Hern Ee’s jacket home because he’d left it after Calculus III class (The class drives people mad) and returning it to him the next day.
    6. Helping Ian who’s already in Iowa to order a transcript.

Never helped so many people in a short period before. I am not hoping for any returns, okay??!!! Don’t get me wrong.

That’s about it (:

Blur Blur Sean

Used to being punctual and hated Malaysian timings, I arrived early once again. To my amazement, Desmond(FFK-ed me yesterday –.-)was already there, and not to mention, Jeffrey the prospective monk.

Since last semester, the ADP department gang adopted a rather interesting trend, playing Cho Dai Dee during break times.

Some enthusiasts even set up an illegal, non-approved Chor Dai Dee club and selected the president, vice-president and other ridiculous posts as “the professional loser” or “the Trash Talker,” and yada yada.

Edwin, the well-known jobless blogger™ is free enough to create a Chor Dai Dee group in facebook, inviting students of ADP to join. Believe or not, he blogged about the rules of Chor Dai Dee in his World Class Jobless Blog Ever™ and even related it to Mathematics. Riz is damn right about his IQ lowering blog! xD Now, there’s a theme song for the group – Hallelujah by Handel –.-

Back to what I was going to say, we played a few games of Chor Dai Dee before my Biology class starts. It was kind of an addiction now. Although the guard of KPDE reiterated that the authority had warned us not to play cards because it’s like a form of gambling, we couldn’t be bothered and continued.

He finally surrendered, allowing us to play without making much noises. But how can that be possible? Chor Dai Dee often come with the cries of ecstatic and joy, agree? But we always try our best to lower down our volume, right? Not..

And so, the guard, a Malay spotted us me shuffling the cards and he was like, “Playing so early in the morning? I SALUTE you!” A Malay saluting a Chinese is always inconceivable to Malaysians me but he just made that happen. Actually, I am the one who’s supposed to salute him as a Muslim for having to wake up early in the morning everyday for his solat subuh. (not being racist here..)

Biology class started and it was Lab today. We did an experiment about the cell - looking at animal and plant cells through the light microscope, which filled me with nostalgia. Anyway, class ended at 9.30 and I was ready to go home.

Yes, I have been grumbling about my sucky time table ever since the start of this spring semester. I have to go to college on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday just to attend one class. While on Friday, my class starts at 8 and ends at 6 with a 4 hours break in between. And trust me, there’s no point consulting the HOD, Mr. Ho . He will nod his head to every single shit that came out of your mouth and give you a “piss” of advice.

Boarded the U82 bus in Pusat Sri Damansara and alighted at the DJ bus stop 15 minutes later. While taking a leisure walk back home, it allowed me to observe the activities all around me but in PJ?, what can you see other than the passing luxurious cars with the drivers staring back at you as if you are not supposed to be walking beside the bustling roads.

So, I am back home at 10.25.

“Wonderful” start for a day

After lighting up the oil lamps for a few days, reluctant to get up even when sun shone through the windows, bringing excruciating heat onto my face, I finally broke the daily routine of my holiday life.

I amazingly went to sleep before the clock stroke two and woke up before the roosters crow. Took a chilly bath and wore the boring outfit I always wear to college. After a brief clean-up, I depart for HELP.

Arrived at Damansara twenty minutes earlier and I didn’t even bother to go to KPD E. Went straight up to level 9 via the elevator in Wisma HELP, barged into the room of LH9.3, took the first seat on the third row* and sat down.

The grave silence in the room was eerie, but something kept me accompanied, my NOKIA N73 handphone. Opened a new note, wrote down all my emotions and thoughts in it while waiting for someone to appear at the door.

Slowly, everybody arrived. The arrival of Mid-Hat, especially, took the spotlight as he broke the silence with a LOUD “HELLO.” I almost fell out from the wooden chair I’m sitting on. He was so hyped up on the first day itself that as if there were worms in his buttocks (Couldn’t get himself seated properly).

Then, finally came Ms Rani with her laptop bags hanging from her shoulder and with a packet of take-away drink in her hand. After everything was set up without much complications, the class started.

15 minutes of lecture coerced my slightly rusted mind to work and then there was an instant power failure. The whole room blacked out but fortunately, there were lights in the room, thanks to the two pathetic dim lights that were running by batteries and the sunlight that managed to shine through the blinds.

Only few minutes later that we got an announcement noticing us that the whole Damansara area was actually affected. Couldn’t be bothered, Ms Rani continued her lecture, which I find the obscured formulae of Calculus III even harder to comprehend.

An hour of lecturing without lights and air-conditioning was torturing to the core as if hell is on earth itself. The suffering ended right after my inner self started to grumble and complain about this “catastrophe.” The lights came back as though Jesus just said, “Let there be light!” I was instantly glad that I wasn’t born to the primeval world.

Came back home to study World Religion for next Friday’s quiz although I was extremely exhausted after attending 5 and a half hours straight of classes.

I had to get myself prepared or I’ll be screwed up nicely next Friday because the quiz is going to cover 5 chapters of absurdly interesting pieces of information that sums up to a total of 211 pages. And besides that, Calculus III quiz is going to be held on the same day. Well, wish me luck and hope I don’t die of over-studying (touchwood).

After struggling hard to catch up with that incredibly fast time, I managed to finish only “ONE” chapter of the 5. Pathetic me.

Before signing off, here’s a picture specially taken down for you!

Well, the “S” on the scarf obviously means “Stitch,” but if you interpret it from a different angle, it means “Smile” always.

Take my word for it, appreciate your life before someone gain control of it.

Have you been waiting?

I have never been free since college reopens on the 5th of January, unlike danny-cooper.

Even before the start of the semester, my brain never stop working. I faced a tough time decidng on which subjects to take before coming to an ultimate decision.

This decision I have made is going to get me busy throughout the whole semester, I believe. I'm taking World Religions under Ms Yap, so I have to strive hard I guess.

HELP's admin has never been that unorganized before. Or rather they are always like that. They constructed a timetable where the subjects are clashing with each other and some of the timing suck hell.

Because of that, most students are taking only 3 subjects this spring semester and Mr. Ho, the new HOD of the ADP department has to approved it.

He doesn't even look at the reasons we wrote for taking only 3 subjects. Just sign and approve.

First day of the semester, Registry 1 was in chaos. Continuing students and new students are required to register and enrol for their subjects there at the same time.

You can imagine the number of students waiting for their turn and squeezing their way to get to the counter. Thank God they are building another block, make it fast please.

Registration done and start worrying about the payment. But that's not all that is in my mind.

I was planning to transfer over to Drake next year so I can dally with the application. There's so much things to do. Troublesome is the word I use to describe it.

With the plan changed, I'm going to transfer this fall, few months later! Instantaneously, everything became such a rush.

I have to register for the TOEFL and I even signed up wrongly, not knowing it until: Reserved a seat for the TOEFL test on the 28th of March and received the ticket confirmation mail. Gosh, my profile name is written as Lee. That's all. Or rather null Lee. Crap!

Wrote letters to complain about everything and am now waiting for their replies. Hopefully the replies are coming in soon.

Looking at the application and requirements to apply for Drake, I'm completely overwhelmed.

Now you know how much stress I'm going through. And I still can't believe that danny-cooper is saying that he has nothing to do!

Come to my house and help me scratch my back then! xD

Black out---!

Sean

Tears from Heaven got me stuck under the Bridge!

Hours ago, I ended a sentence that might be the last sentence that I'll write in this month with a period. I went home using public transport, and guess what?

I FREAKING GOT STUCK UNDER THE FLYOVER BECAUSE THE GOD IS CRYING FOR GOD KNOWS WHAT HAPPENED!!!

I FREAKING COULDN'T COME ONLINE BECAUSE THE GOD WAS SHOUTING AND SHOUTING FOR GOD KNOWS WHAT HAPPENED AGAIN!!!

I FREAKING COULDN'T TAKE A NAP BECAUSE I PLANNED TO POST SOMETHING IN MY BLOG BUT I COULDN'T COME ONLINE!!!

SO, TODAY'S A FREAKING DAY TO REMEMBER!!! :)

DECEMBER 5TH, A brand new day for me to celebrate every year! TaTa~

Changing Style

Life has been real hectic lately. I have assignments to hand in, lab reports to catch up with and a 3000 words research to do! Everything is killing me softly. But I just don't feel like doing anything. Why? I need someone to push me, to motivate me and to guide me through. Anyone.

And there's one thing about me. I'm happy with my life now. Smiling everyday, but deep down inside, I'm actually worrying about my studies. I'm slacking off!

My life has also changed slightly since the start of the semester. Actually, it's 2 weeks after the start of the semester. Less crap, less vulgarity, coming online everyday and.. can't think of more right now.

One more thing! I finally went to play frisbee with my friends after promising them that I'll join them since January, which was my first semester in HELP college. FYI I'm already in the third semester right now. I'm also starting to care for my body and I'm getting back my stamina after going for two Pick-ups on Saturday :)

Yup. That's basically it. My life.. (boring)
